Summary
The City of Vancouver Children, Youth and Families Advisory Committee wrote a letter to the Provincial Government and the Minister of Education regarding its concerns with the Vancouver School Board’s Long Range Facilities Plan (LRFP). We were concerned about the 95% Utilization Ratio imposed by the Provincial Government, the plan’s impact on school closures and the continued delays to seismic upgrade projects.
The Committee sent the letter to all Vancouver MLAs and the Minister of Education. Multiple meetings were held with MLAs in partnership with Vancouver students. Students discussed their concerns with class size and composition, the urgent need for seismic upgrades, and issues with the 95% Utilization Ratio.
